Two naked, beautiful women lie in bed, engaged in passionate erotic sex. Suddenly, they are interrupted when someone bursts in and shoots them both.
Later, Ted (Murray Brown) is driving along a country road when he spots a hitchhiker. He picks her up—it’s the stunning Fran (Marianne Morris)—and drives her home to her large gothic mansion. Before long, they end up in bed together, indulging in a good dose of sex. Not long after, another woman appears. Fran introduces her as her lover, Miriam (Anulka), who has also brought a man home.

One of the many erotic vampire films of the 1970s, Vampyres fully embraces the genre, delivering exactly what fans love most—plenty of sex, blood, and lesbian vampires.
The film is carried confidently by vampire women Marianne Morris and Anulka Dziubinska, who seductively lure viewers into a vampire-erotic adventure where sex and bloody horror intertwine effortlessly. They may not be the greatest actresses, but with an air of mystique and sensuality, they fit their roles well. Their voices were also later dubbed over.

Spanish director José Ramón Larraz delivers a surprisingly strong directorial effort, crafting an eccentric film for its time. Today, Vampyres lives on as a cult classic among fans of erotic vampire cinema. The film is more graphically explicit than many others in the genre from the same era, with atmospheric music that perfectly complements the mood, building an unexpectedly strong atmosphere.
That being said, Vampyres is not without its flaws. There are several imperfections, and less interested viewers may find it both slow and unimpressive. However, vampire film enthusiasts should add this to their collection—just be aware that some versions are missing 29 seconds of violent content.
